Our Story

We Recover Loudly is a mission-driven platform dedicated to transforming the hospitality industry's approach to mental health, addiction, and workplace wellbeing.

Founded in May 2023, our podcast offers a powerful platform for industry professionals to openly discuss drug and alcohol addiction, challenging the systemic culture of excessive substance use.

Meet Shell

Behind this mission is Shell, a hospitality veteran with 18 years of front-of-house experience, who has worked with some of London's best restaurant groups including Hawksmoor, Gaucho and Polpo. Having suffered a life-changing burnout late 2020, Shell pivoted her focus to improving mental health working conditions in hospitality by forcing difficult conversations out into the open.

Through her deeply personal journey of recovery and professional expertise, Shell brings a unique, compassionate approach to transforming workplace culture in hospitality. Her lived experience of burnout and addiction recovery isn't just a story - it's the driving force behind her mission to create meaningful change in an industry she knows intimately.

In her spare time, Shell is Low No Drinker magazine's resident agony aunt, 'Aunty Shell'. She lives in Bournemouth with her sassy sausage dog called Milo who loves the beach and going out for brunch!
